Fencers gear up for Ramadan Championship

DOHA, September 16: Fencers gear up for the 2007 Open Ramadan Fencing Championship which kicks off on Thursday (September 20) at the Al Sadd Training hall.

The two-day annual championship is open for all local and residents in Qatar who will compete in the Open championship carried out in the Italian format where eight teams will vie with three fencers competing in all three weapons (Epee, Foil and Sabre).

In the juniors' category for children between 11-12 years of age will compete in individuals Epee and Foil competitions.

Later on September 27, competitions will be held in Open Individual Foil contest, followed by Open Team Epee challenge on October 4, 2007.

Meanwhile, Qatar's junior and cadet fencers will travel to Kuwait to participate in the Arab which will take place from October 24-30, 2007.
