His Excellency congratulated Al Hamadi asked him to use the historical opportunity in raising Qatar's name at this major sports event.

Al Hamadi conveyed thanks and appreciation towards HE Sheikh Saoud and promised to bring Qatar and Gulf region at BOG. Al Hamadi will participate with Qatar fencing team in the forthcoming Open championships to be held in Malaysia and Singapore in July, before departure to BOG.

Al Hamadi's qualification for BOG was considered as prominent achievement for QFF's intense efforts in hosting fencing at local, regional and international levels.

Fencing sport is considered as a new game for GCC nations despite its reputation as an ancient Olympic game since the launch of modern Olympic Games in 1896.

The Federation International D'Escrime (FIE) nominated Al Hamadi for the wild card considering his splendid performance in the recent competitions.
