Fencers bag four medals in Malaysia International Championship

DOHA, July 9, 2008 (Afzal Mehmood Shaikh): Qatar fencers produced an impressive display to bag four medals at Malaysian International Fencing championship which concluded recently.

Qatar boys took two bronze in foil and epee respectively, while girls team won silver in epee, and bronze in foil.

The tournament featured participation of number of international fencers from Kuwait, Bahrain, Singapore, Korea, Kazakhstan, Thailand, Australia, New Zealand and Qatar.

Qatar's team participation in Malaysian tournament came in preparation for the upcoming international championships including Beijing 2008 Olympic Games, where foilist Khalid Issa Al Hamadi will participate.

Head delegate Fahad Al Mullah lauded the improvement of team's technical level in the tournament, and urged the fencers for more efforts in the remaining games and confirmed that QFF is always keen to back the progress of its team members.
