Fencers take two more on the final day of Arab Fencing Championship

DOHA, August 05, 2008 (Afzal Mehmood Shaikh): Qatar junior fencers added two more medals Monday to their tally of seven on the concluding day of Arab Fencing Championship held in Jordan.

The Qataris managed two silver medals in Sabre and Epee teams respectively. In Sabre, Qatar got better of Kuwait with a slim margin of 44-45, while in epee Qatar beat Kuwait again 45-38.

Qatar Juniors' Sabre team comprised of Nasr Saad Al Saadi, Ahmed Abduldaim, Abdullah Barzegar and Khalifa Salem Suwaid.

Epee team: Hamad Saad Mubarak, Ali Ibrahim Sayari, Mohammad Al Mirzaei and Ahmad Fathi Mubarak.

The seven-day championship witnessed participation of 10 Arab countries including, hosts Jordan, Qatar, Kuwait, Bahrain, Egypt, Algeria, Syria, Palestine, UAE and Yemen.

Earlier in the individual category for Cadets' and Juniors' Qatar managed five bronze medals.
Boys:
1- Ahmed Fathi took Bronze in Epee Cadet
2- Abdulla Hussein Ebrahimi took Bronze in Foil Junior
3- Nasr Awad Al-Saady also got Bronze in Sabre Junior
Girls:
1- Abrar Ahmed Al-Atif took Bronze in Epee Cadet
2- Ghareeba Dahi Waleed took Bronze in Foil Junior

Saleh Amer Al Hemaidi – Secretary General of Qatar Fencing Federation attended the Arab Executive Office and General Assembly meetings held in Jordan on August 1, 2008.
