Alfredo emerges supreme in all Italy epee final

DOHA, January 24, 2009: Italian Rota Alfredo emerged supreme in an all Italian men's individual final at the 2009 Qatar Fencing Epee Grand Prix, Saturday.

Alfredo 33, succeeded over his younger compatriot Martinelli Frances 15-10 in the epic final at the Aspire, academy for sports excellence.

On their way to the final, Alfredo overwhelmed Somfai Peter of Hungary10-9, while Frances sent Chinese Li Guojie packing by a comprehensive 15-12 win.

It was also the opening day of women's individual preliminary rounds for table 128. Women's individual main round and final will be held on Sunday.
