Asian Fencing Championship commence

DOHA, November 14, 2009: The Asian Fencing Championship for Men and Women commenced at the Aspire dome Saturday.

In Saturday’s competition, women were seen in action at the sabre category, while men battled for epee gold.

In all, 23 countries including hosts Qatar are participating in the prestigious event.

Local fencers, Khaled Al Hamadi, Hamad Saad Mubarak, Abdullah Al Ibrahim and Abdulaziz Al Amoudi will represent Qatar in foil event. While, Fatima Al Jalandani, Fatima Dahi, Abrar Ahmed and Hanadi Al Yami will compete in women’s epee.

The championship starts at 0900hrs with the victory ceremony schedule for 1900hrs.
