Fencers shine in Arab Championship

DAMASCUS, Syria, December 05, 2009: Qatar fencing team maintained their dazzling form by raising nation’s medal tally to nine at the ongoing Arab Fencing Championship taking place in Damascus, Syria.

In Saturday’s competitions, fencers captured three medals in men’s epee and women’s foil events respectively, where Qatar’s Mohammed Ali Mirza clinched men’s epee bronze, as Haya Al Manae seized women’s foil silver and Maryam Al Khulaifi took bronze in the same weapon category.

The prestigious Arab event is featuring participation of 12 countries including Qatar, Jordan, Bahrain, UAE, Kuwait, Iraq, Lebanon, Algeria, Tunisia and hosts Syria.
