Al Ebrahimi wins Qatar Open Foil championship title

DOHA, 06 June 2010 - His Excellency Sheikh Saoud bin Abdulrahman Al Thani, the Secretary General of Qatar Olympic Committee and President of Qatar Fencing Federation crowned Abdullah Al Ebrahim as the champion of inaugural Qatar Open Foil championship, following his narrow 15 - 12 victory over Kuwaiti Yasser Ali Nasser in the final on Sunday.

The Qatari fencer received a handsome cheque of QR 10,000 as the first place winner, while the second - placed Yasser Ali Nasser of Kuwait banked QR 7,000, and fencers Saoud Ghazi Al Zaml and Ali Bahzad shared the third place award where each got QR 5,000.

Following the prestigious event, HE, Sheikh Saoud voiced his full satisfactory over the event’s technical level and the dazzling performance shown by the GCC fencers.

The QFF chief also said that the main objective of the championship is to boost fencing sport in GCC, and thanks for all the participating delegations for their overwhelming response in the inaugural event.
