Qatar's epeeists return from Kuwait
DOHA,
January 30:
Qatar's epee team returned from Kuwait
after participating in Martyr Cup under the patronage of Sheikh
Fahad Al-Ahmed Al-Sabah (Grand Prix FIE) held from January 26-28,
2007.
The tournament attracted top epeeists
who participated to grab the toal prize money of US $30,000.
Qatar's delegation was headed by
Abdullah Johar and Ali Belhaj, national team coach.
The four-member squad includes Amir
Hossein, Fahad Al-Yami, Adel Jailani, and Ahmed Abdedaiyem.
The team returned home empty handed but
the efforts were eulogized by Federation officials.
"It was a tough competition, our epee
fencers made a good contribution to the Grand Prix event and we are
pleased with their efforts, however further training will be carried
to strengthen their skills and talent for competing in forthcoming
events," said Saleh Amer Al-Hemaidi, secretary general of Qatar
Fencing Federation (QFF).
"Participating in such international
events will boost their morals and will help them get international
exposure and experience," added Al-Hemaidi. |
