Fencers depart for World Cup in Iran

DOHA, February 28: Qatar's fencing contingent departed for Iran to participate in the FIE Cadet and Junior Fencing World Cup in Iran starting from March 2, 2007.

The three-day event will witness individual competition in Foil, Epee and Sabre categories.

Competition will take place in Shahid Sadoughi Stadium in the Ancient, Historical and Archeological 'YAZD' city, which has many Archeological places to visit as, Mosques, Historical Bazaar, Ancient Architectural Houses, Historical Louvers and etc.

Qatar's delegating contingent includes Khalid Suweid Johar – head delegate, Ahmed Sultan Al-Obaidly – official, Zamel Khulaiwi Al-Shammari – official, Alexandru Nilca – coach, Ashraf Musaed Ibrahim – coach and Mohammed Hassan Al-Sabahi – coach.

The 13-member fencers squad comprises Khalid Al-Hamadi, Hamad Saad Mubarak, Abdulaziz Abdullah Al-Amodi, Abdullah Hussein Ebrahimi, Mohammed Ahmed Basahal, Mohammed Abdulsalam Mohammed, Jamaan Abdullah Jamaan, Mohammed Ali Mirzaei, Ali Ibrahim Sayyari, Ahmed Fathi Mubarak, Ahmed Abdeldayem ElSaddig, Nasr Awad Al-Saadi and Abdullah Ali Barzegar.

In preparation for the competition, the Qatari fencers had undergone rigorous training camp at the Fencing Training Center in Qatar from 15 February 2007 till 27 February 2007 before departing.

A local tournament was also held organised by the Qatar Fencing Federation (QFF) with competitions in all three disciplines.

Formula: The formula is the FIE one applicable to the World Cup

Referees: According to FIE regulations

Technical Committee: will be composed in place.

Equipment: Confirm to FIE regulations.

Weather: The average temperature in March. is around 17 ْ c.

Transportation: The organizing committee will provide two ways shuttle bus service from hotel to venue and vice versa.

Anti Doping Control: Has been provided.
