Musaed, Abdeldayem and Mirzaei kings of
local tourney
DOHA,
February 27: Wesam Musaed, Ahmed
Abdeldayem and Mohammed Mirzaei were the winners of the local
fencing championship held at the Fencing Training Center in Qatar.
The three-day
competition which concluded on Tuesday, 27 February 2007, witnessed
the local fencers locking their swords in Foil, Sabre and Epee
disciplines.
All participating
fencers including the 13-members touring to Iran for the World Cup
starting on March 2, were engaged in rigorous training camp in Doha
which started on 15 February at the Fencing Training Center.
In the foil
discipline on 25 February 2007, amongst the 19 participating
fencers, Wesam Musaed took the battle overpowering Hamad Saad 15-9.
Musaed had an easy
run to the finals defeating Abdullah Al Ibrahimi 15-10 in the
semi-finals. Saad outclassed Mohammed Abdul Salam 11-10 to advance
through to the finals.
In the Sabre
discipline on 26 February 2007, amongst the 16 participating
fencers, Ahmed Abdeladyem outshine Nasr Awad in a close 15-14
encounter. He also beat Abdulaziz Al Amudi 15-5 in semis. Awad
reached final beating Adel Al Jailani 15-4.
In the last of the
three disciplines the epee competition on 27 February saw Mohammed
Mirzaei overcome Wesam Musaed 15-10. In the semi-finals, Mirzaei
beat Abdullah Al Ibrahimi 15-12, while Musaed defeat Jaman Abdullah
15-5.
