Mirzaei go down fighting against Iran's
Serajian in quarters
YAZD,
March 03: Qatari fencers illustrate pleasing performance at the FIE
Cadet and Junior Fencing World Cup in Iran which concluded on
Sunday, 4 March 2007.
The three-day event witnessed fencers competing in all three
disciplines, epee, foil and sabre at Shahid Sadoughi Stadium in the
Ancient, Historical and Archeological Yazd city.
In the foil individual competition on the opening day, Qatar's
Abdulaziz Al Amoudi and Mohammad Ahmed Basahl won their first round
matches 15-11 and 15-8 respectively.
Basahl finished sixth overall, while Al-Amoudi, Abdullah Ebrahimi
and Mohamed Altiri managed 8, 9 and 14 positions.
In epee individual competition, Qatar's Mohammed Ali Mirzaei took
sixth place after showing a great performance registering victories
against Ban Mohammad Mashhad of Iran 15-11 and Tehran Rasulov of
Azerbaijan 15-6.
Mirzaei lost in quarters 15-5 against Abdollah Serajian of Iran.
On the final day sabre individual competition, Qatar's Nasr Al-Saadi
managed to take 17th position overall.
Qatar's delegating contingent included Khalid Suweid Johar – head
delegate, Ahmed Sultan Al-Obaidly – official, Zamel Khulaiwi Al-Shammari
– official, Alexandru Nilca – coach, Ashraf Musaed Ibrahim – coach
and Mohammed Hassan Al-Sabahi – coach.
The 13-member fencers squad comprised Khalid Al-Hamadi, Hamad Saad
Mubarak, Abdulaziz Abdullah Al-Amodi, Abdullah Hussein Ebrahimi,
Mohammed Ahmed Basahal, Mohammed Abdulsalam Mohammed, Jamaan
Abdullah Jamaan, Mohammed Ali Mirzaei, Ali Ibrahim Sayyari, Ahmed
Fathi Mubarak, Ahmed Abdeldayem ElSaddig, Nasr Awad Al-Saadi and
Abdullah Ali Barzegar. |
